A Definite “To-Do” (Musee d’Orsay)

Salut! This morning my husband is out running errands. I am at home watching videos about where else? Paris! I found this video on YouTube about the Musée d’Orsay (Orsay Museum). This museum is definitely on my Paris to-do list. If you love Impressionist and Post-Impressionist art as I do, this museum is a must-see. The museum is also a wonderful example of historic preservation adaptive re-use: the Orsay was once a train station. I didn’t see the Musée d’Orsay when I was in Paris in 1974 because it didn’t exist back then. The museum dates from 1986. The train station obviously did exist, having been opened in 1900. I was able to view some of the works in its collection though; at that time (1974) they were housed at the Jeu de Paume in Paris. I am looking forward to seeing these art works again and more!

Marcia, you write beautifully. I have enjoyed reading your posts. I hope everything is going well in all aspects of this goal you have set. It sounds like a delightful journey for anyone to make. I probably will not comment much but when things are going well for me. I will stop by and read the posts. I so much enjoy reading what you write. You are very gifted and I encourage you to keep up with it and not become discouraged. I love you. Mom
